POLITICO Arena asks: Why is Ron Paul bothering to stay in the race?  Is he still influencing national discussion at this time? And will his movement outlive the campaign? Read other responses at Why is Ron Paul staying the course?
BENJAMIN: Based on interviews and public statements, Rep. Ron Paul does not envision winning the GOP nomination. He is intent on going to Tampa with enough delegates to be influential.
Rep. Paul may be key to taking Mitt Romney over the top in exchange for planks in the GOP platform regarding the Fed and monetary policy.
Rep. Paul is not only building a movement — he’s built one. I believe he wants to steer the Republican party back to its fiscal conservative roots. He clearly intends for his “movement” to outlive his presidential campaigns.
