“In bombshell testimony, Ryann Hermon, who served as the Brooklyn Democrat’s chief of staff, said [Assemblyman William] Boyland directed her to help set up several cash-for-influence deals —including one with a planned payout of a quarter-million dollars.
Hermon documented their partnership in Brooklyn federal court as she copped to six federal crimes herself.
Her guilty pleas yesterday dramatically changed the fortunes of the indicted Boyland, given one of his most trusted aides has publicly detailed his alleged dealings and is poised to testify at his bribery trial.
Hermon, who left Boyland’s staff in January 2012, told a judge the lawmaker had promised to help people he thought were out-of-state businessmen buy a former hospital for $8 million, renovate it with a state grant, and sell it to a Boyland-controlled nonprofit for $15 million.”
