After taking two weeks off from the Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera beat to cover to the then-emerging ‘Gropez’ scandal and the two presidential national convention, the Post has returned with a vengeance. The Post’s intrepid Candice Giove writes:
The Bronx assemblywoman with the sexy, secret Facebook page — who is already facing probes for getting two lovers government jobs — also kept her rapper son on the taxpayer-funded payroll, The Post has learned.
Records show GianCarlo Fret, 29 — who raps as “GC” and is pictured double-fisting vodka bottles on social-media pages — raked in tens of thousands of dollars in government and campaign jobs, including:
* $22,335 as a “student assistant” at the state Department of State in 2008 and part of 2009, while it was run by Lorraine Cortez Vazquez, a former president of the politically connected Hispanic Federation and ex-board member of his mother’s charity, the Bronx Council for Economic Development.

The Post reports that GianCarlo previous picked up paychecks as a City Council aide to family ally Council Member Maria Baez (2006), a temp at the Bronx of Elections (2004-06) where his mom once headed, and paid campaign work with his grandfather, Assemblyman Jose Rivera (2007), and with his mother (2006).
Back in 2008, the Bronx Rainbow Rebels ousted Naomi’s father, Assemblyman Jose Rivera because his leadership had among other things devolved into a “friends and family” plan.
Assemblywoman Rivera withheld comment on this latest revelation and claims she is the victim of a “media” vendetta.

Thank God Naomi Rivera was beat by someone honest and deserving. Naomi is not intelligent at all. Both she and her half brother Joel Rivera are puppets of their father. Joel by the way was illegitimate and his existence was kept hidden by the family unitl he was a teenager and his identity was revealed. The Rivera clan are all liars and dishonest. They prey on the ignorant to vote for them and wave that PR flag around to get the vote. They are all scum and if you look closely into the family they have broken every law imaginable. Here’s to the end of her career and hopefully the half brother and father will be ousted. There are many more candidates who are intelligent, hard working people than any of the Riveras.
I must take issue with your claim that Joel was an illegitimate child. No one is illegitimate, especially a child. The term “born out of wedlock” is less offensive but nonetheless true.
I’ve seen pictures & video of Joel, his mother, Ivine Galarza, and Jose together as a family. And I recall seeing a young Joel at events with his father. Otherwise, thanks for your comments and always remember to vote.
