After an inquiry on Thursday questioning the approval of a political fundraising event on public school property, the City Department of Education (DOE) revoked the permit erroneously given to the event’s organizers.

Thursday night, the Blake campaign emailed this update to supporters:

Alfre_Woodard.MikeBlake“The venue for the ALFRE WOODARD Community Fundraising Reception has been changed to our campaign HQ at 1149 Boston Road (167th and Boston Road), The Bronx, New York. As a reminder, it will be held this SATURDAY at 9:30 a.m., with doors opening at 9:00 a.m.”

Earlier Thursday evening, the DOE released this statement:

“While we welcome forums involving all candidates as part of our civic responsibility, we do not permit political fundraising in our public schools. We will notify the group that we are cancelling their permit.”
