President Obama, roundly criticized for failing to mention God in his weekly address at Thanksgiving, did refer to God in his Christmas Eve address.
He also brought up “Christmas” — he and the first lady squeezed “Christmas” in three times, with the president also referring to “our Christian faith.”
Perhaps this will satisfy Fox’s Bill O’Reilly, who on Tuesday groused in his blog about Congress being forbidden from free mailings that include Christmas sentiments.

Michael:
That the president finally got around to “mentioning” God does not equate to projecting and espousing that our country was founded on faith. Mentioning “Christmas” does not overcome refusing to designate a “Christmas” tree rather than a “holiday” tree at the White House and a host of similar statements and moves. But frankly, mentioning Christianity a few times does not compensate for a three year war from this administration and its Justice Department with its attempts to outlaw all references to God in schools, public places et al.
However, I agree with you on capital punishment as I believe it is contradictory to claim a respect for life and then condemn human beings to death (Unfortunately sometimes for truly horrific crimes).
On O’Reilly, including him is a stretch,(really), I am inclined to simply save the TAXPAYERS’ dollars by these representatives not sending out their “phony” greetings which are basically campaign pieces for MOST of them. (There might be a few honest exceptions) In other words, don’t spend more of my tax dollars…. how about saving me a few dollars more from my pension benefits?
