NYC Muslim leaders to boycott annual Bloomberg breakfast
In an online letter citing the police department’s covert surveillance of Muslim New Yorkers, as exposed by Associated Press, a dozen Muslim community leaders say they’ll boycott the mayor’s annual breakfast.
Crain’s NY Business filed the following online report today:
Upset with New York Police Department surveillance of Muslims, a dozen community leaders plan to boycott the mayor’s annual Bagels with Bloomberg
interfaith breakfast on Friday.
In a letter to the mayor posted online, the leaders wrote that very disturbing revelations have come to light regarding the city’s treatment of Muslim New Yorkersthat make it impossible for them to break bread with him at the year-end function.
I strongly urge Christian, Jewish and Hindu faith leaders to join this principled boycott in support of a community that been painted with a broad brush.

I think this controversy will keep growing tense. May be it is time the Mayor initiated a ‘Commision on New York City Multifaith Partnerships’ which will be advising the Mayor on matters of correctness within religious paradigms.
