A mistrial was declared Friday in the corruption trial of Bronx City Councilman Larry Seabrook after the jury told the judge it was hopelessly deadlocked.
The Daily News was the first to report the news.
Apparently, CM Seabrook’s faith in God and the jury system was rewarded.
US Attorney Preet Bharara has fumbled a second high profile political corruption case in less than 30 days.
In a prepared statement, he said,
“While the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict in the trial of Councilman Seabrook, we fully intend to retry the case and prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the Councilman criminally exploited his official position in order to enrich his friends, his family, and himself.”
