Newcomer To Challenge Sen. Ruth Hassell-Thompson (D-Bx/Westchester)

On Wednesday, May 14, political newcomer Crystal Collins will announce her candidacy for New York State Senate District 36. Ms. Collins is challenging incumbent state senator Ruth Hassell-Thompson. Insiders say that Hassell-Thompson plans to run for Mayor of Mount Vernon next year and that no matter what happens this will be her last campaign for re-election to the state senate.
Crystal Collins’ press statement claims that she is dedicated to bridging the gaps in our communities. Collins says her campaign is about what can be done to improve the quality of life in all areas: jobs opportunities and economic growth, education, public safety and senior and youth services.
The announcement will take place 11am on Wednesday at 2061 Nereid Avenue (between Murdock and Wilder Avenues) in the Bronx.
