Sorry, I missed this article by the DN’s State of Politics blogger Celeste Katz:
In the 79th Assembly District in the Bronx, law clerk Marsha Michael added Transport Workers Local 100 to a lineup of support that already includes electeds such as Public Advocate Letitia James, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., and the Bronx County Democratic Committee and its chairman, Assemblyman Carl Heastie.
Said TWU’s John Samuelsen: “People are having a hard time making ends meet, even amongst the working class. [Michael] understands the struggle, and we are confident that she will be a voice of clarity and compassion.”
The St. Croix-born Michael is competing to fill the seat left vacant by former Assemblyman Eric Stevenson, who was convicted of bribery, extortion, and fraud charges in January.
Michael is also backed by a slew of labor groups, including 32BJ SEIU, the Hotel Trades Council, and Teamsters Joint Council 16, although another Democratic primary hopeful, former Obama campaign operative Michael Blake, has secured the endorsement of the state’s biggest union, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.
