Disgraced ex-state legislator Gabriela Rosa was sentenced to a year and a day in prison on Friday for using a sham marriage to illegally get citizenship and for bankruptcy fraud.
Rosa is second state legislator to be tossed out of office due to fraudulently getting into elected office. Former Bronx Assemblyman Nelson Castro committed perjury in an election law proceeding against his candidacy ion 2008. He was caught agreed to wear a wire in a five year investigation and sting involving corrupt state legislator. Ms. Rosa declined a government offer to become a confidential informant in a new federal investigation of political corruption.
