Seabrook Jurors Say They Cannot Reach a Verdict – NYTimes.com.
On this the second full day of jury deliberations, jurors in the trial of CM Larry Seabrook sent a note to Judge Robert Patterson saying they were at an impasse.
The NY Times reported,
“After much discussion, we are unable to reach a consensus on any individual count verdict. Neither side was unable (sic) to persuade each other to a verdict.’’
Judge Patterson was expected to issue further instructions to the jury telling them that they had an obligation to exhaust every possibility before deciding that they are unable to reach a verdict.
The NY Post reported that Patterson told lawyers on both sides that he was reluctant to deliver an “Allen charge” — a last-ditch effort to spur a verdict — because the jury was only in its second full day of deliberations after hearing four weeks of evidence.
