Insurgent Bronx Assembly candidate Michael Blake filled 79 AD mailboxes with his second 4-color mailer of the campaign season. While the first brochure was essentially a biographical piece, this current mailer focuses on education.
The brochure tells how education “unlocked doors” for Blake and how improving local schools will provide access to college and good jobs for young people.
The piece includes recent endorsements by the Amsterdam News, 1199SEIU and NY Communities for Change.
The four-page English/Spanish brochure ends saying, “Good schools put our children on the path to a good future.”
With a nod to the environment, the flyer urges readers to “please recycle after reading.” (Jokes about various uses for recycled political flyers are bouncing around in my head.)
None of Blake’s erstwhile opponents, including Marsha Michael who is backed by the County Democratic organization, have begun mailing.
The Democratic Primary is Tuesday, September 9.
Michael Benjamin is a columnist and blogger as well as a former state legislator who represented the 79 AD, 2003-2010.
