A generous assessment. But based on his treatment by Congress, the Tea Party, Donald Trump, birthers, and the business community, President Obama needed to emulate Joe Louis in the second Max Schmeling fight (Mike Tyson is preferable but Joe Louis is a more appropriate boxing metaphor for the nation’s first black President).
You might be on to something here. Given his enthusiasm the next day, something was up. I thought perhaps an illness he was fighting through, or distain he was trying not to disclose (but couldn’t help). Your idea sounds brilliant and I hope it is the case. My piece will be titled Fixated On The Ties because I too thought there was something psychological going on–about how Romney wore red and Obama blue. The debate was indeed so bad, that I got lost in accessory psychology. Hmmmm… Rope-A-Dope, I like it. Feel free to expand on your thinking here, Mike.
I reblogged Alonso Brooklyn’s piece. I’d rather Obama had slugged it out on Wednesday. Mitt Romney dropped his right a couple of times and as a southpaw, President Obama could have landed powerful hooks that would have laid out Mendacious Mitt for a KO.
