Actor and former California governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger endorsed stricter national gun control laws. No word if he plans to donate proceeds from his latest action film which opens January 18, five weeks after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre where 20 children and 6 educators were shot to death by a young man wielding a military-style semi-automatic rifle.
The film, The Last Stand, has an unfortunate tagline: “Retirement is for sissies.” Many shooting and gun enthusiasts will resist “retiring” their firearms.
Media mogul Rupert Murdoch, whose Fox Home Entertainment division has a distribution deal with LionsGate, the film’s production company, has also called for stronger gun laws after the Newtown carnage. No word, if he plans to forfeit proceeds from “The Last Stand” DVD sales.
CORRECTION: Earlier post misidentified Rupert Murdoch as owning LionsGate Entertainment.
Rupert does not own Lionsgate, it is an independent mini-major and has no affiliation with Rupert’s Fox.
